The Yogyakarta region is known for its rich potential, attractions, and uniqueness, making it one of Indonesia’s top tourist destinations. One of its strongest economic sectors is the creative economy, which has long been a key source of income for local communities.
Recognizing the potential for creative economic development in Yogyakarta, PT Jamkrindo provides full support through various sustainability programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities and capacities of MSME entrepreneurs. These initiatives include MSME assistance programs and micro and small business financing programs (PUMK) as part of the company’s corporate social and environmental responsibility efforts.
PT Jamkrindo President Director, Putrama Wahju Setyawan, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting MSMEs in Yogyakarta, especially those in the creative industry sector.
"Yogyakarta has long been a hub for creative industry players, and we fully support the government’s vision to establish Yogyakarta as 'The City of Creative' by collaborating with various stakeholders," Putrama stated during a visit to Nur Silver, a Jamkrindo-assisted MSME, alongside several national media editors-in-chief on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
One of Jamkrindo’s creative industry partners is Nur Purwanto, the owner of Nur Silver, a silver handicraft business in Kotagede, Yogyakarta’s largest silver craft center. Established in 1985, Nur Silver is a third-generation family business producing handmade silver crafts such as: Plates, bowls, spoons, and forks, Brooches, rings, and jewelry, Miniature replicas of Borobudur Temple, ships, rickshaws, and traditional horse carts (andong).
"Silver handicrafts have been a cultural heritage passed down for generations since the founding of the Yogyakarta Sultanate," Purwanto explained.
Since 2018, Nur Silver has been a Jamkrindo-assisted partner, gaining access to funding and business mentorship.
"Our business has grown thanks to the additional capital provided by Jamkrindo. They have also helped us expand our market by inviting us to bazaars and exhibitions for free, which significantly increased our revenue," said Nur.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted his business, causing a 60% revenue drop due to PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions), which reduced tourist numbers.
"During the pandemic, people prioritized spending on essential needs and healthcare, which affected our sales," he added.
Despite the challenges, Jamkrindo’s support helped the business survive by providing online training and assistance.
"In October 2021, we received our second PUMK loan of IDR 30 million, which we plan to use for business expansion," said Nur.
