Jakarta – As part of the celebration of its 52nd Anniversary, PT Jamkrindo provided goat farming training and assistance in the form of 52 goat seedlings and 52,000 gama umami feed cuttings to farmers through Pesantren Qoryatussalam, Yogyakarta. This training and assistance are expected to encourage the growth of new businesses based on livestock farming in Yogyakarta and its surrounding areas.

The training, attended by students and leaders from several Islamic boarding schools in Sleman, Kulon Progo (Yogyakarta), and Klaten (Central Java), as well as farmers within the pesantren network, was held at Pesantren Qoryatussalam in Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Wahid Foundation, on Thursday, July 14, 2022. One of the training topics was introducing the concept of smart farming based on socio-entrepreneurship to address the gap between urban and rural areas, which is being implemented in Sukabumi District, West Java.

Among those giving the training were Nafiatul Umami, a lecturer and researcher from Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta; Afton Atabany, a lecturer and researcher from IPB; Ismail, a livestock practitioner; and Voster, another livestock practitioner.

PT Jamkrindo’s Corporate Secretary, Abdul Bari, explained that the 52nd anniversary celebrations of PT Jamkrindo continue even though the peak celebration took place on July 1, 2022. “PT Jamkrindo has conducted empowerment activities in various regions and hopes that the same model can be developed in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas. Along with the 52nd Anniversary celebrations, we want to share with the community, one of which is through this training,” said Abdul Bari in a press release.

As part of the 52nd anniversary celebrations, PT Jamkrindo also conducted various other social activities across Indonesia, such as distributing shoes to elementary school children, providing prosthetic limbs, training for people with disabilities, distributing basic necessities, and other social initiatives.

The goat farming with the smart farming concept is seen as a solution to address the gap between urban and rural areas through a sustainable socio-economic approach. The smart farming concept, supported by a wide ecosystem and network, also aims to open new economic opportunities based on local potential.

The Executive Director of the Wahid Foundation, Mujtaba Hamdi, said that empowering the students in the goat farming and digital farming training is an initiative of the Wahid Foundation and Pesantren Qoryatussalam, in collaboration with PT Jamkrindo, to build the independence of the pesantren community in goat farming entrepreneurship. "PT Jamkrindo's support is part of our effort to build sustainability in the pesantren's economic sector. This 52nd Anniversary has started with a good program, and we hope it will continue to grow well and sustainably," said Mujtaba.

Echoing Mujtaba's sentiments, the founder of Pesantren Qoryatussalam and Director of the Wahid Foundation, Yenny Wahid, stated that the digital farming concept to be applied in goat farming is an innovation in carrying out the mission of PPQS. "We hope PT Jamkrindo continues to succeed in supporting government programs to strengthen and distribute national economic growth," said Yenny.

The training and other social activities are PT Jamkrindo’s efforts to directly contribute to the community outside its core business, which is as a guarantee company. By June 2022, Jamkrindo had realized a volume of Credit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) guarantees totaling IDR 101.1 trillion with 2.21 million MSMEs covered.
