State-Owned Enterprises Must Lead Micro Business Development

State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) must take the lead in driving the growth of micro businesses in the country.

"Micro businesses have proven to be one of the fastest-growing sectors with a significant impact on economic growth," said Deputy for Restructuring and Strategic Planning at the Ministry of BUMN, Achiran Pandu Djajanto, in Palembang on Thursday (6/9).

According to him, the government, through several BUMN such as Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Pegadaian, and Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), is focused on supporting the development of micro businesses. These companies have been consistently providing capital loans to micro-entrepreneurs.

"Micro businesses tend to be genuine and honest in their production activities. Additionally, loan repayment defaults are rare, meaning the system works well," he stated.

Pandu Djajanto explained that optimal financial support services for micro-entrepreneurs from financial institutions serve as a key solution to ensuring rapid business growth across the country, including in South Sumatra.

The government remains optimistic that micro businesses will become the sector with the highest growth potential.

According to PNM data, 5,650 micro and small business (UKM) entrepreneurs nationwide have benefited from capital loans provided by the company.
