This year, People’s Business Credit (KUR) will be disbursed amounting to Rp85 billion, benefiting 8,000 debtors to support the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
"We have disbursed Rp85 billion in KUR 2012, benefiting 8,000 debtors to boost the agriculture and fisheries sectors in North Maluku (Malut)," said Head of Bank Indonesia (BI) Ternate Branch, Marlison Hakim, in Ternate, yesterday.
To support the implementation of this program, banks are collaborating with several districts/cities in North Maluku through empowerment initiatives, aiming to enhance coordination and provide constructive input for regional economic development.
"The government continues to empower the community's economy, and sustainable coordination in economic development is expected," he said.
According to him, the government’s efforts should receive support from all parties, including business actors, to strengthen and empower the people's economic growth.
Banks in North Maluku have also signed a cooperation agreement with the Ternate City Government for the development of bioethanol as an alternative energy source to replace fossil fuels.
For this reason, the central government is urged to support the initiative by rolling out development programs for cooperatives and rural areas in North Maluku.
Currently, cooperatives strongly hope for fresh funding support to develop community businesses.
