JAKARTA – Bullying and sexual violence can severely impact children's mental health, who represent the nation's future generation. To prevent such cases among students, PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) has collaborated with PAUD Inspirasi Indonesia and the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA) to provide anti-bullying and sexual violence education to 5,300 elementary school students in Jakarta and Bekasi.
Jamkrindo Corporate Secretary Dody Novarianto stated that the initiative aims to prevent bullying and sexual violence against children. According to Dody, the program has been conducted across 21 schools, including SDN Marunda 05 in North Jakarta.
"This activity is a proactive step to ensure children can study in a safe environment, free from bullying and abuse, which can hinder their development and well-being," Dody remarked.
By addressing these critical issues through awareness campaigns and education, Jamkrindo aims to contribute to the broader goal of creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
“The educational activity conducted today at SDN Marunda 05 in North Jakarta is part of an ongoing initiative that we will continue to implement as part of the celebration of PT Jamkrindo's 53rd anniversary on July 1,” said Dody. “This activity reflects our genuine concern for the education sector and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of quality education, gender equality, and reducing inequalities.”
Commissioner of the National Commission for Child Protection, Lia Latifah, emphasized that the high number of bullying cases occurring in educational institutions not only involves peer-to-peer interactions but can also take place among educators and school staff. Additionally, the presence of social media and the internet has created new avenues for cyberbullying in the digital realm.
"Several factors contribute to incidents of violence and bullying in schools," said Aris, "including insufficient facilities and resources for supervising student activities, negative peer environments, a culture of inherited bullying, unclear school policies or regulations on preventing and addressing violence, as well as individual factors like revenge, reactive behavior, aggressiveness, a desire for dominance, and others."
Lia emphasized that preventing bullying and violence requires willingness, commitment, consistency, collaboration, and transparency from all parties involved. The National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA) expressed its appreciation to PT Jamkrindo for its attention and commitment to protecting students from bullying and sexual violence.
“A holistic and integrative approach is needed to prevent and protect against sexual violence,” Lia added. “Achieving quality education is not solely the responsibility of teachers as educators but requires the involvement of all sectors, including parents as primary educators, the government, businesses, civil society organizations, the media, and society at large."
