In response to the growing economic activity in Sumatra, particularly in Lampung, PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia has prepared financing for the region, with a ratio even higher than Third-Party Funds (DPK). This was stated by Bank Muamalat Indonesia's Retail Director, Andrian A. Gunadi, after the inauguration of six new offices in Bandar Lampung yesterday.
"This proves that Bank Muamalat’s intermediation function in providing financing to customers in Lampung is higher than the funds we collect," said Andrian.
As of August 2012, Bank Muamalat Lampung recorded a total DPK of Rp285.8 billion. The bank has been successful in attracting retail funds through its savings products, with savings accounting for 56% (Rp162.7 billion) of total DPK. Meanwhile, deposits contributed 38% (Rp109.5 billion).
On the funding side, this region recorded total financing of Rp348.3 billion, with the retail sector making up the largest share—over 80% of the financing portfolio. Andrian added that this reflects Bank Muamalat's positive contribution to supporting economic development in Lampung, particularly in MSMEs, trade, and agriculture.
"In agriculture, we focus on downstream industries, such as procurement of heavy equipment, housing for company employees, and fertilizer supply," he explained.
Meanwhile, Chairil Noor, Area Manager for South Sumatra (Sumbagsel) at Bank Muamalat, stated that Bank Muamalat's assets continue to grow, reaching Rp1.8 trillion, while DPK in the Sumbagsel region is around Rp1.7 trillion. Nationally, Sumbagsel contributes 5% of asset growth and 7% of DPK growth.
The newly inaugurated offices are located in several districts, including Tulang Bawang, Kota Liwa, Kemiling, Teluk Betung, Panjang, and Natar. With these additions, Bank Muamalat now operates 14 offices in Lampung, making it the Islamic commercial bank (BUS) with the largest branch network in the province.
These offices are spread across Bandar Lampung and smaller cities such as Pagar Alam, Pring Sewu, Metro, and Kota Bumi. In addition to opening six new offices, Bank Muamalat also launched its foreign exchange operations in Bandar Lampung.
With this new status, the public can now access international banking services, including Money transfers (remittance) to and from abroad, Trade finance (LC/Bank Guarantees), Foreign currency exchange
These services are now available through Bank Muamalat's branches in Lampung.
