BEKASI, October 16, 2024 – PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) and PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (JAMKRINDO) have joined forces to offer an entrepreneurial training program in batik-making for women with disabilities. The program aims to empower these women by enhancing their skills and enabling them to become independent entrepreneurs, particularly within the competitive field of batik in the creative industry.
Targeting the Karawang area in West Java, the Batik Vocational Program for Persons with Disabilities brings together 30 participants with disabilities from economically disadvantaged households—members of the Yayasan Kreasi Tuli Indonesia. The training sessions run from October 16 through October 18, 2024.
PNM Corporate Secretary L. Dodot Patria Ary called on everyone to take part in encouraging economic self-reliance within the disability community. According to him, there is significant potential to be harnessed, not only to fortify economic aspects but also to foster broader social engagement.
“PNM will continue to roll out programs that benefit the disability community, helping boost their self-confidence so they can actively contribute to their local environments. We also hope they become part of the decision-making process—making true equity a reality,” said Mr. Dodot.
Mr. Dodot added that PNM’s empowerment initiatives—through financial, intellectual, and social capital—are designed to have a direct personal impact on beneficiaries, serving as a testament to the company’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Jamkrindo’s Corporate Secretary likewise emphasized the company’s longstanding commitment to disability advocacy.
“Our disability empowerment initiatives underscore Jamkrindo’s dedication to promoting economic inclusivity,” the secretary said.
In addition to hiring employees with disabilities, Jamkrindo has previously provided training and support to help people with disabilities remain productive and creative—such as prosthetic limbs, public speaking classes, and the donation of patrol and gamelan musical instruments for students at a special-needs school in Sidoarjo, East Java.
“With this training, we intend to uplift all segments of society, including those with physical limitations. We hope to provide skills that not only enhance individual development but also open up broader economic opportunities, enabling people with disabilities to become more independent and productive,” said Aribowo, Corporate Secretary of Jamkrindo.
