A total of four guarantee companies have agreed to form an association that is expected to be launched this month. According to the President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, Diding S. Anwar, the formation of this guarantee companies association is a push from the government, particularly the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and the Capital Market and Financial Institutions Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK).
"Jamkrindo has been tasked with encouraging the formation of a guarantee companies association. Nahid Hudaya (former President Director of Jamkrindo) has initiated its formation and now my task is to finalize it," he said, Tuesday (2/10).
Diding explained that there are three companies outside of Jamkrindo that are the founders of the association, namely PT Penjaminan Kredit Perusahaan Indonesia, PT Penjaminan Kredit Daerah Jawa Timur (Jamkrida Jatim) and PT Penjaminan Kredit Daerah Bali Mandara. "The founders plan to launch the association this month. However, we have not yet decided on its official name," he said.
Jamkrindo’s Guarantee Director, Nanang Waskito, added that the government is encouraging the guarantee industry to develop as an alternative to credit insurance. "In developed countries, credit for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises is more often backed by guarantees because it has a clear bias," he said.
