The total claim burden of Perum Jaminan Kredit Indonesia for the period January–August 2012 soared due to the high number of problematic loans from several government financing programs.
Based on the financial report of Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo), the total claim burden for the period January–August 2012 reached Rp426.94 billion, an increase of 80.56% compared to the same period last year.
That claim burden had reached 99.13% of the 2012 target, which was set at Rp430.68 billion. The total burden consisted of claims amounting to Rp346.71 billion and a claim reserve of Rp80.22 billion.
Meanwhile, the Guarantee Service Fee (IJP) obtained by the company during the same period reached Rp671.84 billion, an increase of 26% compared to Rp532.68 billion recorded a year ago. With this performance, the ratio of claim burden to IJP inched up to 51.61% compared to last year's 34.01%.
On the investment side, the company recorded income amounting to Rp138.75 billion, an increase of 65.11% compared to a year ago. This was further supplemented by other income amounting to Rp68.71 billion, more than doubling compared to a year ago.
However, the company also experienced an increase in operating expenses of 55.59%, rising to Rp108.59 billion from the previous Rp69.79 billion. Pre-tax profit was recorded at Rp343.77 billion, a slight increase from the previous year. This performance boosted the ratio of operating expenses to operating income (BOPO) to 13.4% from 11.32% last year.
Jamkrindo’s Guarantee Director, Nanang Waskito, stated that the high increase in claims was due to many micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) financed under government credit programs encountering problems, thus facing difficulties in repaying their loans.
“In addition, there are still debtors in government credit programs such as People's Business Credit, who consider the financing as aid. However, the number of debtors aware that the funds are credit that must be repaid is also increasing over time,” he said on Tuesday (2/10).
