Jakarta - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and the entire BUMN family organized an event to plant 3,000 tree seedlings along the East Flood Canal area in East Jakarta. This program was carried out as part of the BUMN Public Relations Forum's Social Service and the 2014 BUMN Sports and Arts Festival (Porseni) series of activities.
The tree-planting event began at 8:00 AM and was inaugurated by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Rini Soemarno. It was attended by several BUMN company directors and local government representatives from Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).
The tree seedlings were planted along a four-kilometer stretch of the East Flood Canal to strengthen the soil structure against the strong flow of river water. Nine types of trees were planted, including mahogany, acacia, mangium, jabon, trembesi, meranti, keruing, breadfruit, sengon, and albizia. During the initial planting period, the seedlings will be monitored and managed for the next three years by PT Bakti Usaha Menanam Nusantara Hijau Lestari through Perum Perhutani.
This program is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of BUMN companies in Indonesia, aimed at addressing flood issues in the East Flood Canal area.
