3 State-Owned Banks Ready to Disburse KUR IDR 20 Trillion, Interest 21%/Year

Jakarta - The government plans to resume distributing People's Business Credit (KUR) this year, with the target that the distributed KUR reaches Rp 20 trillion, involving three SOEs namely BRI, BNI, and Bank Mandiri with an interest rate of 21% per year.

The plan was already discussed by several ministers at the office of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil. The ministers who attended the two-hour meeting included Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro, and Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga.

"KUR is planned to operate again. For this year, it will start being rolled out on 10 March," said Puspayoga, who was encountered after attending a meeting at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/3/2015).

The government appointed three executing banks, namely Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and Bank Mandiri. "It is targeted that this year Rp 20 trillion can be distributed," he continued. The funds come from the internal funds of each executing bank. The government prepared Rp 1 trillion as guarantee funds that will be disbursed through credit guarantee companies namely PT Askrindo and Perum Jamkrindo.

"So every credit (KUR) that is disbursed will be guaranteed by Jamkrindo and Askrindo," he said.

Through this KUR facility, people who want to start a business can apply for a loan to the three appointed executing banks, with a credit ceiling of up to Rp 15 million, without needing to pledge collateral.

"It can be without collateral for Rp 15 million. It can also be if one wants to apply for above Rp 15 million up to Rp 25 million, if this one uses collateral. It can be a vehicle or a house," he said. As for the interest rate charged, it is 21% per year. Last year, the interest rate for KUR loans was set at 22% per year. Unfortunately, he did not detail the requirements for people who want to apply for KUR. "That depends on the executing banks. They have the rules," he concluded.
