Makassar | The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs is providing assistance to four regencies in South Sulawesi Province that have issued Regent Regulations on Micro and Small Business Permits (IUMK).

Deputy for Business Development and Restructuring at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Braman Setyo, stated this in Makassar on Wednesday during the Socialization of MSME Permits for four regions whose heads have issued the regulations, namely Maros, Takalar, North Luwu, and Bantaeng.

"There are four regions out of 24 regencies/cities in South Sulawesi that already have Regent Regulations on MSME permits. We hope that other regional heads will soon issue regulations on MSME permits because MSME actors are eagerly awaiting their support," he said.

He stated that by having an IUMK card, they would receive financing facilities from banks and could use it for assistance.

"The government is currently aggressively launching the People's Business Credit (KUR). Ideally, to obtain MSME credit, one must have a business permit, but since only a few have it, the permit has not yet become a mandatory requirement," he said.

Braman Setyo said that his office, together with BRI, targets South Sulawesi to create 45,000 MSMEs from the four regencies, meaning each regency would have an average of 11,000 MSMEs.

"For example, if Bantaeng can only create 5,000 MSMEs, then the remaining target will be allocated to the other three regions," he said.

Braman Setyo stated that the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Governor of South Sulawesi, and the President Director of BRI have also committed to supporting 100,000 MSMEs in South Sulawesi Province.

"The KUR interest rate has been reduced from 21 percent to 12 percent or 0.5 percent per month. We hope that MSMEs that have received KUR will apply for commercial credit in the following year so they can level up," he said.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Perum Jamkrindo stated that they aim to issue MSME permits in 75 regencies/cities across Indonesia, while currently, 12,000 MSME permits have been issued.

"In the future, social assistance will be reduced. We hope that MSME actors who have received credit will apply for commercial credit. If their bookkeeping is good, they will surely find it easier to obtain credit," he said.

On the same occasion, Braman Setyo stated that the number of MSMEs nationwide has reached 56.8 million units, while access to KUR from 2007 to 2014 amounted to IDR 178 trillion, benefiting nearly 12 million MSMEs.

"This year, it will be further increased. In 2015, the target is for 20 million MSMEs to access KUR," he said.
