Jakarta | Although optimistic about having good potential with a subsidiary in the MSME rating sector, Perum Jamkrindo is aware that profits cannot be obtained immediately.
This is because, in the initial stage, this business requires a significant amount of capital.
Jamkrindo Director Bakti Prasetyo said that at the start of its operations, the subsidiary would need substantial funds for operational activities, including conducting surveys on MSME entrepreneurs.
"It requires a lot of manpower and time," he said.
The large number of MSMEs presents its own challenge in terms of coverage and compiling comprehensive data.
Their locations are also spread across various regions.
It is not surprising that achieving profitability will take time.
"If we rely solely on our own funds, it might take at least five years to turn a profit," he revealed.
There is, however, another way for the subsidiary to generate profits more quickly.
That is by securing financial support from the government.
Efforts in that direction are being continuously pursued.
Even if it takes time to generate profits, Jamkrindo still sees this business as a promising opportunity.
Especially since, by 2018, 20% of the credit distributed by banks must be allocated to the MSME segment. (source: Kontan.co.id)
