Palembang | Perusahaan Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Perum Jamkrindo) provided Community Development assistance in the form of a vehicle for the Regional Board (PW) of Muhammadiyah South Sumatra. This assistance will be used by Muhammadiyah for preaching activities in various remote areas of South Sumatra.
The assistance was symbolically handed over by the Head of Regional Office I of Perum Jamkrindo, Nina Kurniada Dewi, to the Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah South Sumatra, Romli, and witnessed by the Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Hafiz Tohir. "We are grateful to Perum Jamkrindo for collaborating with us in preaching and community development in our region," said Romli in Palembang (14/12/2015). Also present at the event were the Head of Jamkrindo Palembang Branch Office, Trio Witarko, Head of Public Relations of Perum Jamkrindo, Hafizah, and Deputy Secretary of PW Muhammadiyah South Sumatra, Suroso PR.
Romli stated that in carrying out its work programs, PW Muhammadiyah of South Sumatra requires transportation facilities for the organization's operations, particularly for preaching in remote areas of South Sumatra.
"We have a network/infrastructure of the organization down to the village or branch level and have numerous charitable efforts in education and religious social fields. Therefore, this assistance is crucial for us in carrying out community social activities related to safeguarding Islamic faith," said Romli.
Chairman of Commission VI DPR RI, Hafiz Tohir, stated that assistance from SOEs like Perum Jamkrindo is continuously encouraged by the DPR to ensure that Community Development aid from SOEs is well-targeted. "We appreciate and will continue to encourage other SOEs to implement similar initiatives," said the DPR member from the PAN faction.
In her speech, Nina Kurnia Dewi stated that Perum Jamkrindo, through its Community Development program, remains committed to providing assistance to those in need. The programs carried out by PW Muhammadiyah are considered aligned with the company's vision and mission in developing and improving the welfare of the wider community. "Perum Jamkrindo essentially also operates under Islamic principles as we support the growth and development of micro, small, and medium enterprises as well as cooperatives," she said.
The Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah South Sumatra oversees 16 Regional Leaderships based on the administrative divisions of South Sumatra, with 112 Branch Leaderships and 621 Sub-Branch Leaderships. In carrying out its mission of Islamic preaching, enjoining good and forbidding wrong, Muhammadiyah South Sumatra has established 201 mosques/prayer rooms, 20 orphanages, 2 Islamic boarding schools, 43 elementary schools/Islamic elementary schools, 26 junior high schools/Islamic junior high schools, 28 senior high schools/Islamic senior high schools/vocational schools, 4 universities, 5 clinics/maternity hospitals, and 1 hospital.
