Expanding UMKMK Services, Jamkrindo Opens 21 Branch Offices

Jakarta | Perusahaan Umum Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Perum Jamkrindo) has opened 21 new branch offices. With this expansion, the state-owned credit guarantee company now has a total of 56 branch offices spread across the country.

Perum Jamkrindo's President Director, Diding S. Anwar, stated in his speech that this step is a response and responsibility of the company to continue serving Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives (UMKMK) so that they can keep growing. "As a credit guarantee company, we want to improve service and financial accessibility for UMKMK," said Diding at the Grand Mercure Hotel Jakarta on Tuesday (15/12/2015) during the inauguration ceremony of 21 new branch offices and 10 new Service Unit Offices (KUP) of Perum Jamkrindo.

Diding explained that UMKMK, as the largest economic sector in Indonesia today, has proven to be a safety valve for the national economy during and after crises.

There are approximately 57.5 million UMKM units across Indonesia, absorbing 97.16% of the national workforce, with UMKM's potential recorded at Rp600 trillion last year. This makes UMKM a highly promising market for the banking industry.

Unfortunately, financial institutions still consider the UMKMK sector not yet bankable enough to receive credit access. Therefore, a national credit guarantee is needed to bridge the gap between UMKMK’s financial access needs and the credit requirements set by financial institutions. "For this reason, the opening of new branches and KUP offices is considered very strategic," he stated.

The 21 new branch offices are Type D branches and remain under the supervision of higher-level branch offices in their respective regions. The parent branch’s working area remains at the provincial level, while the Type D branch offices cover several districts.

Previously, Perum Jamkrindo had 35 branch offices and 21 Service Unit Offices (KUP) at the district/city level (see infographic box - ed.).

Financial Performance

In 2015, Perum Jamkrindo was in a strategic growth position, in line with the company’s increasing equity and assets. As of November 30, 2015, the company recorded total corporate assets of Rp10.562 trillion, while its equity stood at Rp8.480 trillion, marking a 19.79% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, net profit for the year amounted to Rp524.833 billion. The volume of People's Business Credit (KUR) until the third quarter (end of September 2015) was recorded at Rp1.753 trillion. *team
