Purwakarta | Member of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Ade Komarudin, visited Purwakarta on Thursday (19/12). His visit was to inaugurate the Menteng Food Zone micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) canteen on Jalan Veteran Purwakarta, together with Perum Jamkrindo.
On this occasion, former Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Ahmad Misbakhun and the ranks of Perum Jamkrindo were also present. The event was also part of the inauguration of a pilot project for UMKM development and mentoring.
"UMKM is the backbone of the national economy and has proven resilient in facing past economic crises," Ade said in his speech.
Meanwhile, Perum Jamkrindo Director Diding S. Anwar stated that this canteen serves as a snack center run by UMKM entrepreneurs and a distribution point for UMKM products.
"Our main task is indeed to provide easy financial access by guaranteeing credit for UMKM entrepreneurs," he said.
The food court is also located next to Perum Jamkrindo's new office in Purwakarta. In addition, they provided community development assistance of Rp 15 million for 100 orphans.
"We have also recently officially opened 21 new branch offices and 10 Service Unit Offices (KUP) across the country," he said.
He explained that the establishment of the new offices and KUP was driven by UMKM, which constitutes the largest economic players in Indonesia. However, he noted that financial institutions still consider the UMKM sector as not yet bank-friendly.
"Therefore, a national guarantee institution is needed to bridge UMKM’s need for financial access. The establishment of new branch offices is the answer to this challenge," he stated. (*team/Tribun Jabar)
