PALU | Perusahaan Umum Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Perum Jamkrindo) is organizing the Siswa Mengenal Nusantara (SMN) program, which will take place starting August 5, 2016. A total of 20 students from top high schools in Central Sulawesi Province who have passed the selection process will participate in this national student exchange program. This program, initiated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises through the "BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri" program, is held to commemorate the 71st Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence on August 17, 2016.

All participants from Central Sulawesi will exchange places with students in Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands. Two out of the 20 students from Central Sulawesi will be selected from students with disabilities without going through a selection process, while the remaining 18 students have passed administrative, psychological, and interview selection.

Perum Jamkrindo has been appointed as the coordinator for the implementation of the SMN program, with Bhanda Ghara Reksa (BGR) serving as the deputy coordinator for the "BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri" program in Central Sulawesi. Meanwhile, in the Riau Islands, the program is carried out by PT Bank BNI, PDIP Batam, and Surveyor Indonesia.

The PMN program has received full support from the local government. The students were welcomed by the Mayor of Tanjung Pinang, H. Lis Darmansyah, and the Director of Finance, Investment, and Risk Management of Perum Jamkrindo, Ignatius Rusdonobanu, in Pangkal Pinang, Riau Islands, on Friday, August 4, 2016.

The President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, Diding S. Anwar, stated that this is the second time the program has been implemented by Perum Jamkrindo. Last year, a similar activity was conducted in Banda Aceh in conjunction with the launch of the SMN program by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Rini Soemarno, in August of the previous year. "This student exchange program is beneficial for strengthening ties and fostering brotherhood among students in Indonesia while also expanding their knowledge and experiences," said Diding.

The SMN program carries the theme "Indonesia, My Proud Nation" as a form of contribution from state-owned enterprises in building national capacity, not only in business and economic aspects but also through the younger generation. This activity is being conducted simultaneously by all state-owned enterprises across 34 provinces in Indonesia. The goal is to instill a sense of pride in being part of a nation rich in cultural diversity through the student exchange program.

"In this activity, young generations are encouraged to develop a sense of nationalism by gaining a deeper understanding of Indonesia's cultural diversity and wealth as a foundation for the nation's strength in competing on the international stage," said Diding. (Public Relations)
