The Indonesian Credit Guarantee Public Corporation (Perum Jamkrindo) celebrated its 46th anniversary on July 1, 2016. The only state-owned enterprise (BUMN) engaged in the guarantee sector has experienced rapid progress in recent years.
Perum Jamkrindo’s President Director, Diding S. Anwar, and his team have every reason to be proud. The state-owned company has now transformed into a corporation that plays a vital role in advancing the national economy, particularly in the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector and cooperatives.
Four years ago, when Diding first assumed the role of President Director, Jamkrindo had only a dozen branches. This meant that the company’s office network had not yet reached all regions of the country. However, now, at the age of 46, its branch offices have grown to 56.
As a result, many provinces now have more than one branch office. Additionally, 10 service unit offices (KUP) have been established in districts/cities with promising MSME potential. These regional offices are coordinated by nine regional offices (Kanwil).
The company’s assets have also grown significantly. Currently, assets stand at IDR 12.6 trillion, with a guarantee volume target of IDR 120 trillion by the end of 2016.
"This is all thanks to the hard work of the entire company," said Perum Jamkrindo’s President Director, Diding S. Anwar, during a breaking fast event and tumpeng cutting ceremony celebrating the company’s 46th anniversary at its headquarters in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Thursday (June 30).
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Braman Setyo; Director of Guarantee Business, Bakti Prasetyo; Director of Finance, Investment, and Risk Management, Rusdonobanu; and former President Director, Nahid Hudaya, along with hundreds of employees.
Meanwhile, the Director of Human Resources, General Affairs, and Compliance, Nanang Waskito, and the Director of Network and Services, R. Sophia Alizsa, along with their team, were on an overseas assignment.
Diding stated that at 46 years old, Perum Jamkrindo has undergone a long journey in fulfilling its function and responsibilities as a guarantee company. It started with the establishment of the Cooperative Credit Guarantee Institution (LJKK) in 1970 and later transformed into Perum Jamkrindo.
"The company’s success and sustainability today have been cultivated since the time of our predecessors, who worked tirelessly through difficult and limited conditions. They remained steadfast, dedicated, and sincere in advancing this company to fulfill its responsibilities as a credit guarantee/financing company," he said.
Therefore, on this 46th anniversary, Diding invited all employees to reflect on the contributions of their predecessors. There is no other response but gratitude and appreciation for those who have maintained and developed the company to this point.
In commemorating Perum Jamkrindo’s founding, Diding emphasized the importance of an open-minded approach in all aspects to optimize and accelerate the company’s growth while ensuring its integrity and sustainability, without engaging in risky or detrimental actions.
Another key message of this celebration, which must be conveyed to all Perum Jamkrindo personnel across Indonesia, is the importance of integrity and openness to positive changes. Whether they like it or not, the company’s journey will inevitably bring new developments that shape its operations and activities.
"Open-minded is true! We must cultivate and nourish ourselves with a proactive and positively critical attitude. We are all owners of this company and ourselves. We must not harm, hurt, or oppress," said Diding.
According to him, the heroes of Perum Jamkrindo are those who continue the struggle for the company’s sustainability. Newcomers should not be complacent but must demonstrate real contributions, as the company’s experience lies with its predecessors.
Newcomers should bring collaboration and improvement, while predecessors should not be resistant to change, whether internal or external. Everything is essential to ensure the company’s sustainability and establish Perum Jamkrindo as a Trusted, Responsive, Excellent, Healthy, and Leading guarantee company.
This long journey presents both opportunities and challenges for Jamkrindo personnel to remain relevant in all aspects. As a concrete contribution, let’s work even better towards "Jamkrindo Moving & Producing Significantly."
"We focus on excellent services in all aspects, from the smallest to the largest. Excellent service is a right for stakeholders and all Perum Jamkrindo personnel (both internal and external). Nothing is difficult if there is a will," he said.
Diding continued, stating that in this era of openness, communication and information exchange are easier, but challenges remain. It requires wisdom from all parties to handle and maturely respond to issues.
"If in the past, we said 'Your mouth is your tiger!' now it extends to 'Your fingers are your tiger!' A lack of wisdom and prudence will harm oneself and others," he remarked.
The enactment of Law No. 1 of 2016 on Guarantees provides a clear and firm legal framework for Perum Jamkrindo to play a more optimal role in contributing positively to the national economy, particularly through MSME credit guarantees.
The issuance of the Guarantee Law is a crucial moment, and Jamkrindo personnel must fully optimize it. "Therefore, I urge all Jamkrindo personnel to safeguard this mandate so it can be implemented properly. Let’s move forward for Jamkrindo," he said.
This year, the government has also issued Government Regulation No. 1 of 2016 on the Warehouse Receipt System Guarantee Implementing Agency. In this regard, internal preparations are necessary to ensure the responsible, accountable, and smooth execution of this mandate.
With 46 years of experience, Perum Jamkrindo must continuously pursue continuous improvement. There should be no complacency, no waiting for what happens next, no giving up, and no fear of competition. The worst thing would be for the company to be perceived as weak and sluggish.
As competition intensifies, particularly with advancements in technology and human resource quality, special attention is required to face these challenges.
The implementation is certainly not easy, but it is not impossible, as many have successfully navigated it. Therefore, Jamkrindo personnel must foster collaboration, synergy, and pride in their work while committing to their responsibilities.
Togetherness is crucial—not just for maintaining relationships but also for achieving better outcomes. "Together we achieve more. You are all the next generation of Perum Jamkrindo. My deepest appreciation goes to all Jamkrindo personnel who have done their best work," said Diding.
As Perum Jamkrindo matures, a balanced addition of personnel is necessary to join in harmony. The impact will be a more proportional distribution of tasks. However, rest assured that this aims to ensure the additional workforce operates productively.
On this occasion, Diding, on behalf of the company, reaffirmed gratitude for Perum Jamkrindo’s 46 years of existence. May it continue to provide excellent service and benefit the public, MSMEs, and stakeholders everywhere.
At the same time, Good Corporate Governance (GCG) must be upheld in company operations, making oversight functions a Strategic Business Partner through mutual appreciation and support for the company’s improvement.
"May we all be granted health, blessings, and commitment in carrying out our corporate duties. Let’s support one another, help each other, stay united, and always spread joy to everyone. Strengthening relationships brings more sustenance—let’s build together, without exception," he concluded. (*)
