MEDAN – The Mentawai tsunami disaster, which has claimed many lives and caused extensive property damage, has received widespread public attention. Assistance from both the government and the private sector continues to flow to the victims.
One example is Perum Jamkrindo, based in Medan, which, in collaboration with the National Humanitarian Agency PKPU, is channeling CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds for the victims of the Mentawai tsunami disaster. CSR funds amounting to Rp50 million are allocated for humanitarian, education, and health programs.
Lukmanul Hakim, Head of the PKPU Medan Branch, stated that for the umpteenth time Perum Jamkrindo and PKPU have joined forces to assist communities affected by the disaster. “On behalf of the community, we express our gratitude to Perum Jamkrindo for demonstrating its care for the people by disbursing CSR funds,” said Lukmanul Hakim in Medan.
The National Humanitarian Agency PKPU has already distributed assistance including rescue teams, food, beverages, generator sets, trauma healing services for evacuees, and medical teams to support the health of the displaced. In addition, further aid will continue to be provided in the form of temporary housing and the construction of educational facilities.
