JAKARTA - Perum Jamkrindo, a state-owned enterprise engaged in MSME credit guarantees, has partnered with 24 other state-owned enterprises (BUMN) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for infrastructure assistance in building the Mama-Mama Market for the people of Papua. This initiative is part of the "BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri" (SOEs Present for the Nation) program.
The MoU signing took place on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises building in Jakarta. Present at the event were Perum Jamkrindo's Director of Finance, Investment, and Risk Management, I Rusdonobanu, along with leaders from the 24 BUMN designated as donors for the market's development.
The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises has initiated the BUMN synergy program to support the construction of the Mama-Mama Market in Papua Province. The market will be built on a 2,490-square-meter plot of land owned by Damri in Jayapura, funded by donor SOEs. PT Pembangunan Perumahan Tbk (PTPP) has been appointed as the contractor, with PT Pertamina coordinating the collection and distribution of funds through its Community Development Program (CSR/BL).
The donor SOEs contributing to the project include Bank BRI (Rp 4.35 billion), Pertamina (Rp 6.2 billion), Bank Mandiri (Rp 4.37 billion), PGN (Rp 1 billion), Telkom (Rp 3.87 billion), Bank BNI (Rp 3.5 billion), Jasa Marga (Rp 3 billion), Jasa Raharja (Rp 3.87 billion), Pupuk Indonesia (Rp 2 billion), Semen Indonesia (Rp 2 billion), Bank BTN (Rp 2 billion), Askrindo (Rp 500 million), ASABRI (Rp 500 million), Jasindo (Rp 500 million), Taspen (Rp 500 million), Jiwasraya (Rp 500 million), Perum Jamkrindo (Rp 500 million), PTPP (Rp 300 million), Wijaya Karya (Rp 500 million), Waskita Karya (Rp 500 million), Adhi Karya (Rp 500 million), PLN (Rp 1.5 billion), as well as DAMRI and PT Virama Karya. The total funds collected amount to Rp 42.467 billion.
The construction of the Mama-Mama Market aligns with President Joko Widodo’s Nawacita vision, which aims to bring transformative change toward a sovereign, economically independent, and culturally strong Indonesia. One of the key implementations of Nawacita is the establishment of the Mama-Mama Market in Papua Province.
The market is planned to be a modern facility, both in terms of its infrastructure and management, to significantly contribute to the welfare of the Papuan people and support national development. The market will include dedicated areas for Papua's traditional handicrafts and a wet market section. Despite being managed traditionally, the existing Mama-Mama Markets in Papua have already played a crucial role in enhancing the local economy and improving the welfare of the Papuan people.
President Joko Widodo laid the foundation stone for the market during his visit to West Papua last year, coinciding with the inauguration of other infrastructure projects. The government remains committed to its target of developing 5,000 markets over five years.
