BERITABUANA.CO, JAKARTA – The presence of credit guarantee institutions will drive regional economic growth. This was stated by Soegeng Iman Wicaksono, Head of the Warehouse Receipt System (SRG) Guarantee Division at Perum Jamkrindo, after a meeting of the SRG Task Force organized by the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) of the Ministry of Trade in Jakarta last weekend.
With a credit guarantee institution like Perum Jamkrindo, which has been appointed by the government to guarantee credit under the Warehouse Receipt System (SRG) scheme, if there is a failure or inability of warehouse operators to fulfill their obligations, the lending banks can claim their bad credit from Jamkrindo.
Jamkrindo is currently awaiting approval for State Capital Participation (PMN) to implement the SRG credit guarantee program under Government Regulation (PP) No. 1 of 2016 concerning SRG Guarantee Implementing Institutions. "This is a state mandate, and we will carry it out to the best of our ability," said Soegeng Iman Wicaksono.
Perum Jamkrindo, a state-owned enterprise (BUMN), has a long-standing history. Established in 1970 as the Cooperative Credit Guarantee Institution (LJKK), it has since evolved into Perum Jamkrindo (Indonesian Credit Guarantee Corporation), focusing on credit guarantees for MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and Cooperatives.
Jamkrindo currently operates 56 branches across Indonesia. However, the institution acknowledges the need for continuous active socialization efforts. "Our approach to socialization is comprehensive—from A to Z and Z to A, covering all aspects from upstream to downstream and vice versa," said Iman.
"We consistently communicate with stakeholders regarding financing, collaborate with other state-owned enterprises like Pegadaian, and implement various innovations," he added. (Daf)
