The President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, Diding S. Anwar, conducted a Ramadhan safari to the Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan, on Monday, June 12, 2017. The journey to the capital of the youngest province in Indonesia was quite exhausting as it required crossing both the sea and rivers.
Diding arrived in Tarakan, North Kalimantan on Monday morning, accompanied by the Head of the Planning and Development Division, Erna Zubaida. The top executive of Perum Jamkrindo first visited the Tarakan Branch Office, where he provided a briefing to the employees there.
The journey continued to the Tengkayu Port in Tarakan. From there, the group took a motorboat to Tanjung Selor. The Head of Regional Office VIII (Banjarmasin), Achmad Muchlison, the Head of the Tarakan Branch Office, Iskandar Permana, and several employees joined the trip.
After nearly two hours on the boat, crossing the sea and then the river, the group finally arrived in Tanjung Selor. In the afternoon, after a brief rest, Diding S. Anwar and his team visited a Dayak handicraft shop and bought some souvenirs.
Upon arrival at the Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School, Diding S. Anwar was impressed by the vast 7-hectare campus, which accommodates around 230 students. During the visit, Perum Jamkrindo provided financial assistance for the construction of a mosque, the boarding school, donations for the students, and plans to establish a Reading Park.
Diding explained that Perum Jamkrindo had previously established Reading Parks at SD Negeri 02 and SD Negeri 03 Sembalun in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The school’s Reading Park has been completed and contains textbooks, children’s books, science books, a computer, and bookshelves.
Perum Jamkrindo also provided training, including administration management for the Reading Park and reading interest training for the people of East Lombok.
"I target that the Reading Park at the Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School will be completed by July 2017 at the latest. While in Sembalun, there were many storybooks, but here the Reading Park will focus more on religious textbooks," Diding explained.
The President Director of Perum Jamkrindo also advised the students, in addition to deepening their religious knowledge, to learn entrepreneurship. He hopes that the students will play an important role in the economy of North Kalimantan, a province that has only recently been established.
"This new province has great natural resource potential. Its economy can advance significantly. The students must play a part in this," he said. As a state-owned enterprise in the credit guarantee sector, Perum Jamkrindo is ready to guarantee the business loans for the students' entrepreneurial ventures.
M. Irsan Sulaiman, the Chairman of the Foundation, warmly welcomed the assistance provided by Perum Jamkrindo. He said the donation would be very beneficial for the activities at the Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School, including education and da'wah (Islamic outreach).
