Parliament Requests KUR Distribution to Involve Private Banks

INILAH.COM, Jakarta – The House of Representatives (DPR) has requested that Bank Indonesia (BI) ensure that People’s Business Credit (KUR) distribution is not limited to state-owned banks (BUMN) only, but also involves private banks.

"We believe the involvement of private banks is crucial, as KUR distribution has become a burden for state-owned banks and the government," said Arif Budimanta, a member of Commission XI of the DPR, during a hearing with Bank Indonesia at the DPR building in Jakarta (14/2).

The DPR criticized BI for not consulting state-owned banks before distributing KUR, which has led these banks to focus more on distributing loans rather than making investments.

According to data from the Ministry of SOEs (BUMN) as of December 2010, state-owned banks had exceeded the 2010 KUR disbursement target, reaching Rp15.9 trillion.

The breakdown of KUR disbursement by state-owned banks is as follows:

  1. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI): Rp9.569 trillion (up 111.3% from the previous year)
  2. 13 Regional Development Banks (BPDs): Rp2.071 trillion (103.6%)
  3. Bank Mandiri: Rp1.948 trillion (105%)
  4. Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI): Rp1.052 trillion (65.7%)
  5. Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN): Rp614 billion (87.7%)
  6. Bank Syariah Mandiri: Rp413 billion (105.69%)
  7. Bank Bukopin: Rp241 billion (120.4%)
