Hundreds of officials and employees of Perum Jamkrindo commemorated the services of the Heroes of the Indonesian Independence by holding a Heroes' Day Ceremony at the back yard of the Perum Jamkrindo Headquarters in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on November 10, 2017.
The solemn ceremony was led by the Acting President Director (Plt.) of Perum Jamkrindo, I. Rusdonobanu. Also present at the event were members of the Board of Directors, Division Heads, and Key Functional Officers. On this occasion, Rusdonobanu read the speech from the Minister of Social Affairs, Khofifah Indar Parawansa.
"Every November 10, we, the entire Indonesian nation, commemorate Heroes' Day. We remember our ancestors, the heroes, and the pioneers of independence," he said. He continued by stating that through their thoughts, actions, and collective struggle movements, Indonesia today enjoys living as a free nation, equal to other nations.
The nation's founders conveyed an important message that after independence was achieved, the next phase is to be sovereign, just, and prosperous. For this fundamental message, the theme of the 2017 Heroes' Day commemoration is "Strengthening Unity to Build the Nation."
"If we can unite as one nation, we can move forward together and distribute the blessings of independence to all Indonesian people," said Rusdono, quoting the speech from the Minister of Social Affairs.
The commemoration of Heroes' Day today is based on the historic battle of decolonization, the "Battle of November 10, 1945" in Surabaya. This event showed the international community how the entire Indonesian people, from different races, ethnicities, religions, cultures, and various forms of particularism, united as one to pledge, act, and dedicate their lives and souls to defend Indonesia's independence.
