Randi Anto, the President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, took on the role of a teacher at SDN Parhitean in Parapat, North Sumatra, as part of the BUMN Mengajar program under the BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri initiative. The goal of this teaching activity was to motivate 5th-grade students to develop a sense of love for their homeland, understand the principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity), and highlight the contributions of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to the nation’s development.
This event was part of a social agenda during the 2017 BUMN CEO Coordination Meeting, which took place in Parapat, North Sumatra, on December 20-21, 2017. The theme of the activity was "BUMN Hebat, Negara Kuat, Rakyat Sejahtera" (Great BUMNs, Strong Nation, Prosperous People).
Becoming a teacher was a first for Randi Anto. However, his management skills made it easy for him to act as a motivator for the students at SDN Parhitean. The students were very enthusiastic as they listened to the presentation given by the leader of Indonesia's only BUMN in the field of guarantee, which plays a vital role in supporting the sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) and Cooperatives (KUMKM) in the country.
To make the learning experience more engaging, Randi Anto incorporated quizzes as an interactive element, with prizes for the most active students.
During the session, Randi provided a brief explanation about BUMNs and how they relate to the daily lives of the students. He also discussed topics such as love for the homeland, the importance of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, and the contributions of BUMNs to national development. Additionally, he shared insights on environmental love and motivated the students to protect the environment, connecting the lesson to local environmental issues, particularly those around Lake Toba.
