BUKITTINGGI – Perum Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) continues to foster the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) within the community, particularly in the Bukittinggi area of West Sumatra.

As part of its ongoing efforts, Jamkrindo organized a vocational training event for journalists in Bukittinggi. The event, themed "Strategies for Successful MSMEs in the Era of Disruption," was a continuation of the vocational training held during the National Press Day (HPN) in February 2018 in West Sumatra.

The event was attended by several key figures, including Bukittinggi Mayor Ramlan Nurmatias, Secretary of the Deputy of Financing at the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs, Sutarjo, PWI Delegation Representative Muhamad Ihsan, Head of Perum Jamkrindo Regional Office I Medan Adnan Lukman Hatta, and local journalists from Bukittinggi, West Sumatra.

In his speech, the Director of Finance, Investment, and Risk Management at Perum Jamkrindo, I. Rusdonobanu, emphasized that this training aimed to stimulate media professionals to engage in business and spread MSME-related information to the public.

"Jamkrindo's presence is part of the 'BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri' (SOEs Present for the Country) program, showcasing the role of SOEs in benefiting society and acting as agents of development," he said.

The journalists attending the event showed great enthusiasm as they engaged in discussions well beyond the scheduled time. The discussion lasted until 1:50 PM, extending beyond the planned end time of 12:00 PM.

Hery Surya, Head of Perum Jamkrindo Padang, noted that the training was aimed at fostering journalists' interest in developing their own businesses. "During the HPN event, we conveyed that journalists can not only be reporters but also entrepreneurs," he said. For journalists new to business, he suggested starting small and learning from existing MSME players.

He also explained that to obtain financing through Jamkrindo, businesses must meet specific criteria, such as adhering to Government Regulation No. 41 of 2008, which limits annual sales to a maximum of IDR 50 billion. He stressed that gaining hands-on experience in business would allow journalists to better understand MSMEs and the challenges involved in running a business.

"By experiencing business operations firsthand, journalists will gain a deeper understanding of the difficulties involved," Hery explained.

In addition to the vocational training, Perum Jamkrindo also provided assistance in the form of a Reading Garden for students in Bukittinggi and Padang. This initiative was part of Jamkrindo's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, focusing on community development through the Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL). Jamkrindo has consistently contributed to society by providing educational resources such as reading gardens in various cities, including Sembalun and Sibolga.

As of the first quarter of 2018, Perum Jamkrindo had distributed approximately IDR 1.77 billion in PKBL funds, including IDR 920 million for the Partnership Program and IDR 849 million for the Community Development Program. In 2017, the company distributed a total of IDR 16.79 billion in PKBL funds.
