Perum Jamkrindo Renovates Veterans' Homes and Empowers Cashew Farmers

KUPANG - Perum Jamkrindo, along with several other state-owned enterprises (BUMN), collaborated in a home renovation program for former fighters of East Timor integration in Kupang, Adonara, and Larantuka, East Nusa Tenggara. By moving into these newly renovated homes, it is hoped that the quality of life for these veterans will improve.

The home renovation project in East Nusa Tenggara was carried out in cooperation with BUMNs such as Perum Jamkrindo, Angkasa Pura, Asabri, Bank BTN, Pegadaian, Pelindo III, and the Military Resort Command 161/Wira Sakti. The homes built were officially inaugurated by the Minister of BUMN, Rini Soemarno, on Tuesday (14/8/2018), during her working visit to West and East Nusa Tenggara. Prior to the inauguration, the Minister visited Lombok to oversee assistance distribution for earthquake victims, and then continued her visit to Rote Island to check on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs in the area.

The inauguration and home handover ceremony was attended by Randi Anto, President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, and other BUMN management. Randi Anto explained that this home renovation program is one of BUMN's forms of appreciation for the former fighters of East Timor integration, who contributed to the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

“This home renovation program for the former East Timor integration fighters is expected to strengthen our bond as fellow citizens and the successors of the nation’s history. Honoring the former fighters is part of respecting our nation's history and realizing BUMN’s presence for the nation,” said Randi Anto.

This home renovation program targeted 60 homes with a total budget of IDR 4.205 billion. Thirty homes have been completed, while the remaining homes are still under construction. The renovation is being done in phases because the homes of the former fighters are located close to each other, making it easier to move household items if done in rotation. The rotation system also fosters a spirit of mutual cooperation among the beneficiaries. The homes that are completed are now awaiting electricity connections, while the remaining 30 homes are still under construction, with varying levels of progress.

The former fighters expressed their gratitude for receiving the home renovation assistance. For them, this program serves as a beautiful gift ahead of the 73rd Independence Day celebration of the Republic of Indonesia.

The home renovation project for the former East Timor integration fighters is part of the synergy for the BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri (BUMN Present for the Nation) program. In 2018, Perum Jamkrindo participated in various BUMN synergy activities, including the Idul Fitri homecoming program, electrification in West Java and Banten, Siswa Mengenal Nusantara, and several other initiatives.

In addition to participating in BUMN synergy, Perum Jamkrindo also runs a partnership program in East Nusa Tenggara, specifically assisting the St Antonio Cashew Farmer Group in Lewoharang, Larantuka.

Through this partnership program, Perum Jamkrindo helps empower farmers to add value to their products. Cashew nuts are a key local commodity, and this program aims to support the economic growth of the farmers after receiving assistance from Perum Jamkrindo. (HUMAS)
