The State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) for credit guarantee, Perum Jamkrindo, celebrated Indonesia’s 73rd Independence Day alongside the community in Gorontalo Province. The Proclamation of Independence commemoration, titled BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri (State-Owned Enterprises Present for the Nation), featured a series of activities involving the community, students, BUMN employees, and personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).
The activities organized by Perum Jamkrindo with the Gorontalo community included the independence ceremony and a healthy walk. As the only state-owned company tasked with credit guarantees, Perum Jamkrindo also conducted several social initiatives, including various competitions, a beach cleanup, the provision of environmental assistance such as electrification for the local community, the donation of reading gardens, the construction of public facilities like MCK (bathrooms), and a low-cost market for basic goods (sembako).
Randi Anto, the President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, explained that BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri is a program initiated by the Ministry of BUMN since 2015 to increase the welfare of communities across Indonesia. This year, Perum Jamkrindo was entrusted with the role of coordinating the BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri activities in Gorontalo Province, alongside Perum Perumnas as the co-coordinator.
“We hope that the celebration of the Proclamation of Independence will strengthen the relationship between State-Owned Enterprises and the wider community, so that the role of BUMNs as development agents can be more deeply felt by people in various regions across the country,” said Randi Anto on Friday (17/8/2018) in Gorontalo.
Randi Anto shared that the series of activities, which involved the community, students, BUMN employees, TNI, and Polri, received an enthusiastic reception. During the peak of the event, the flag-raising ceremony was conducted by the best Paskibraka (flag-raising) team from Gorontalo City at the Center Point Field, with around 500 participants. In addition, to further commemorate the independence day, on Saturday (18/8/2018), Perum Jamkrindo held a healthy walk event with approximately 2,000 participants, along with various competitions offering attractive door prizes, including motorcycles, bicycles, refrigerators, mobile phones, and gold savings.
Previously, as part of the activities in Gorontalo Province, Perum Jamkrindo also held a student exchange program called Siswa Mengenal Nusantara (SMN). In the SMN program, Perum Jamkrindo sent 24 top students from Gorontalo Province to Lampung for a seven-day student exchange to learn about the cultural diversity and natural wealth of different provinces. Among the 24 students, three were special-needs students, and their journey was supported by teachers and the Gorontalo Provincial Education, Culture, and Sports Department (Dikbudpora).
