Perum Jamkrindo participated in the Indonesia Business and Development Expo (IBD Expo), a Business and Development exhibition held by State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in Surabaya. This grand event, part of the annual calendar, will captivate Surabaya from October 3-6, 2018, with participation from over 100 BUMNs and national/multinational corporations.
The grand event was officially opened by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Darmin Nasution, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. In this occasion, Sri Mulyanto, the Supervisory Board Chairperson of Perum Jamkrindo, and Randi Anto, the CEO of Perum Jamkrindo, were also present.
In his speech, Minister Darmin Nasution encouraged the business community to take a more active role and collaborate with the government to promote the welfare of society. Darmin acknowledged the growing progress and role of BUMNs, which are becoming more effective in contributing as development agents in Indonesia.
“I also hear that the number of BUMNs that are losing is getting smaller, which is very good,” said Darmin in Surabaya on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
Darmin also urged BUMNs and other businesses to synergize in building the nation so that Indonesia doesn't fall behind in global competition. According to him, two things are essential for the development of BUMNs: formulating investments and conducting exports, as well as improving human resource quality through vocational education.
“The efforts made to face the dynamics of the global economy should focus on preparing investments and exports. Also, in vocational education, BUMNs are expected to contribute with conceptual thinking at the ministry level,” he said.
Meanwhile, Randi Anto, the CEO of Perum Jamkrindo, mentioned that the Ministry of BUMN, together with the BUMN media cluster in the National Publishing and News Corporation (NPNC), took the theme "Tak Henti Membangun Negeri" (Continuously Building the Nation). This event serves as an entry point for business and development information in Indonesia, not just through exhibitions but also seminars, talk shows, BUMN Talks, BUMN Career Opportunities, MURI record-breaking activities, BUMN Creative Houses, Rumah Pangan Kita (Our Food House), Balai Ekonomi Desa (Village Economic Centers), the Indonesian Coffee Festival, awards, and entertainment.
Perum Jamkrindo, in this grand event, offered various engaging activities. At the Jamkrindo booth located at the 1st floor, C31 section of the Grand City Surabaya exhibition area, the booth featured several activities to attract visitors to stop by and participate in the provided activities, such as the Mini Talk Show "Scale Up Pelaku Usaha Juara" & Fun Games, Mini Talk Show "Jadi Pengusaha Di Usia Muda, Siapa Takut" & Gun Games, UMKM Socialization & Fun Games, and Live Music performances.
Encouraging Young Entrepreneurs
Randi Anto explained that the company is focused on cultivating young entrepreneurs who start up their businesses. This initiative to foster quality start-ups is not only aimed at the IBD Expo but also at university campuses. This year, Jamkrindo has been actively selecting outstanding students in the start-up field.
“We encourage young generations to become entrepreneurs. We can support them with credit guarantees,” Randi said.
He further explained that Jamkrindo not only nurtures start-ups but also provides capital guarantees. “Recently, we’ve innovated by collaborating with fintech companies to identify the best start-ups,” said Randi.
As the only state-owned enterprise (BUMN) in the guarantee sector, Perum Jamkrindo supports national economic development by guaranteeing MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) loans. In 2018, Perum Jamkrindo targeted a credit guarantee volume of IDR 156 trillion.
"We have a key role in bridging MSMEs that have viable businesses but do not meet the technical banking requirements, particularly collateral requirements, so that they can access financial resources," added Randi.
Perum Jamkrindo continues to enhance its performance through various strategic initiatives and is committed to expanding the guarantee market by establishing new partnerships with both banks and non-banks. It also conducts strategic studies to create guarantee products that align with what banks and non-banks offer.
Logistics Assistance for Earthquake and Tsunami Victims
In response to the disaster, Perum Jamkrindo acted swiftly to send logistical aid to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Donggala and Palu. The aid included essential items such as food, water, biscuits, blankets, sarongs, sanitary pads, and diapers.
In addition to sending aid to the general public, Jamkrindo employees also initiated independent fundraising efforts. This initiative was purely for helping Jamkrindo employees and the wider community affected by the disaster.
“Such initiatives are certainly supported as they foster solidarity among employees,” said Randi.
Perum Jamkrindo was also affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Palu. In addition to damage to the Palu branch office building, several employees’ homes were severely damaged. After losing contact briefly following the disaster, all employees were eventually confirmed to be safe. "We will continue to strive for the best for all Perum Jamkrindo employees in the affected areas," Randi concluded.
