Perum Jamkrindo held a ceremony to commemorate the 90th Youth Pledge Day in 2018 at the company’s headquarters in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Monday, October 29, 2018.

The ceremony was led by the Director of Business Guarantee of Perum Jamkrindo, Amin Mas'udi, and attended by the board of directors, division heads, and hundreds of employees. Directors and employees from the subsidiary, PT Penjaminan Jamkrindo Syariah, were also present.

On this occasion, Amin Mas'udi read the speech of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Imam Nahrawi.

"Today we commemorate a very historic day for our beloved nation, which is the 90th Youth Pledge Day in 2018," he said.

He mentioned that the nation owes a debt of gratitude to the youth leaders of 1928 who declared the Youth Pledge, thus becoming the pioneers in building the Indonesian national consciousness and committing to maintaining the unity of this nation. Their national commitment should be emulated to build the nation and unite Indonesia.

The theme of this 90th Youth Pledge Day is "BUILD YOUTH, UNITE INDONESIA." This theme was chosen based on the importance of youth development to produce a generation that is faithful and devoted to God Almighty, noble in character, healthy, intelligent, creative, innovative, independent, democratic, responsible, competitive, and possesses leadership, entrepreneurship, pioneering, and nationalism qualities based on Pancasila and the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia 1945 within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The rapid development of information technology is like a double-edged sword. On one hand, it guarantees the speed of information, allowing our youth to increase their knowledge capacity in developing resources and competitiveness," he explained.

However, on the other hand, this development has a negative impact, as destructive information such as hoaxes, hate speech, pornography, drugs, free sex, and radicalism and terrorism can easily spread if young people are not able to filter these with knowledge and maturity in nationhood.

"A progressive youth is a youth with character, capacity, and competitiveness. By realizing a progressive youth, we can create a great nation," said Amin Mas'udi.

Great Indonesian youth have emerged and are able to compete in the Asian arena. At the 2018 Asian Games, Indonesia's young athletes competed with other Asian countries and managed to rank 4th, while at the Asian Para Games, our athletes achieved 5th place.

"This is a new chapter in the rise of Indonesian sports. It should be used as momentum to continue building the optimism of Indonesian youth by working hard to achieve excellence in various fields," said Amin Mas'udi.

If the youth of previous generations were able to break free from the traps of primordial attitudes related to ethnicity, religion, race, and culture, and move toward national unity, then today's youth must be able to broaden their views beyond the current walls of the world to greet a better future.

"O youth of Indonesia, the world is waiting for you, fight, bring forth ideas, determination, and dreams, your sacrifices will never be in vain in changing the world," he urged.
