Perum Jamkrindo, as the only State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) in the guarantee sector, remains steadfast in its commitment to assist Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) and Cooperatives (UMKMK). For example, Perum Jamkrindo provides management training to UMKM entrepreneurs to help them scale their businesses.
Randi Anto, President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, stated that recently, Perum Jamkrindo provided support and management training for UMKM entrepreneurs in Yogyakarta. Before Yogyakarta, similar training was held in Semarang, Aceh, and Bandung. The training on UMKM Business and Financial Management was held in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
"Support for UMKM is essential so that they can scale their businesses, thereby increasing their aggregate contribution to the national economy," said Randi in a press release.
In a separate occasion, the Head of Risk Management, UMKM Rating, and Management Consultation Division at Jamkrindo, Ceriandri Widuri, explained that the purpose of this education is for UMKM to understand financial management. One of the common issues faced by UMKM is that they are often not well-organized in preparing financial reports. "After this training, business owners are expected to apply the knowledge they have gained to their businesses," she said.
In addition to providing training materials, Perum Jamkrindo also collects data on UMKM. This data collection is part of the scoring and rating process to make it easier for Perum Jamkrindo to provide credit guarantees. "From the data collection and training in six cities, we hope to register approximately 1,200 new UMKM that can be included in Perum Jamkrindo's records," said Ceriandri.
By the end of the year, Ceriandri targets to collect data on 7,213 UMKM. This would bring the total number of UMKM registered by Jamkrindo since 2015 to 11,632. "Currently, Jamkrindo is continuously building a database of UMKM with high-quality, updated, and integrated data to support the development and guidance of UMKM nationwide," she added.
Perum Jamkrindo was established in 1970 and is entrusted with driving the growth of micro, small, medium-sized enterprises, and cooperatives (UMKMK) in Indonesia through its guarantee services. Jamkrindo has reported positive guarantee performance through the third quarter of 2018. From an operational performance standpoint, as of September, the total guarantee volume reached IDR 126 trillion. The largest portion, 80% or IDR 85.18 trillion, came from non-credit People's Business Credit (KUR) guarantees, while the remaining IDR 41.30 trillion was from KUR guarantees.
