Perum Jamkrindo, in collaboration with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), organized a training session on manual coffee brewing techniques and coffee packaging for its foster partners in Kintamani, Bali. This initiative is part of a capacity-building program aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of coffee farmers.
Through the synergy of BUMN (State-Owned Enterprises) between Perum Jamkrindo and PNM, coffee farmers were provided with valuable training during a two-day event held on November 29-30, 2018, in Kintamani, Bali.
The event was attended by Lies Nun Heriatisyah, Head of PKBL Division of Perum Jamkrindo, Ida Bagus Warka, Business Manager of PNM Denpasar Branch, and Chandra Arif A. Arifin, Project Manager of PNM Center. The training was conducted by I Made Ari Keriyanata, a coffee enthusiast from PNM Management Services.
Lies Nun emphasized that through this BUMN collaboration, coffee farmers would gain new skills and knowledge that could add value to their business, enabling them to pursue a career as baristas and improve their coffee packaging and marketing techniques. "With this capacity-building initiative, we hope to provide coffee farmers with additional value, helping them grow their coffee brewing businesses," she said.
The farmers were highly enthusiastic and eager to apply what they learned in the training, aiming to expand their businesses and move beyond simply being coffee producers to becoming coffee entrepreneurs. This will enable them to grow their business and achieve greater success.
In addition, the farmers, who were divided into two clusters, received a partnership loan funding of Rp 1 billion through the Program Kemitraan (Partnership Program). Each farmer was granted a loan of Rp 50 million, distributed among 20 farmers in the two clusters: Kelompok Kenjung Wanasari and Kelompok Sari Rejeki.
Chandra Arif A. Arifin, Project Manager of PNM Center, expressed hopes that this program would allow coffee farmers to develop their businesses and create additional value for their families.
Kintamani, located in the heart of Bali at the foot of Mount Batur, is known for its cool climate, ideal for growing both Arabica and Robusta coffee. The area has many coffee plantations, some of which have also been developed as agro-tourism spots. One of Perum Jamkrindo's foster partners is a group of farmers from Catur Village, Kintamani.
Through the development of agro-tourism in Kintamani, visitors can experience more than just watching the coffee-making process. During harvest season, they are invited to pick coffee beans, and they can enjoy the freshly brewed coffee from the farm. This unique experience adds to the area’s appeal as a growing destination for coffee lovers and tourists.
