BUMN Shares Through Providing Assistance to Orphanage Children in North Sulawesi

Manado, December 15, 2018 – In celebration of Christmas 2018 and the upcoming New Year 2019, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in North Sulawesi, including PT PLN (Persero), Perum Jamkrindo, and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (Persero), organized a Christmas celebration under the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri initiative in North Sulawesi.

This event was held simultaneously in 15 provincial capitals with significant Christian (Protestant and Catholic) populations. It was attended by the Governor of North Sulawesi, Olly Dondokambey, the Ministry of BUMN represented by the Head of ELKP II A, Abdi Mustakim, General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Wilayah Suluttenggo, Edison Sipahutar, Head of PT PNM (Persero) Manado Branch Alfian Langkamane, Head of Perum Jamkrindo Bitung Branch, Muhammad Fajrin, and other senior BUMN officials. The event was held at the C.J. Rantung Hall, North Sulawesi Governor's Office.

In his speech, Olly expressed, "BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri is a program that can be directly felt by the community. We are very grateful to BUMN, especially PLN, Jamkrindo, and PNM. In the current administration, we can increasingly see the presence of BUMN in the community. Particularly, PLN's efforts leading up to Christmas have significantly reduced the number of complaints about power outages."

“The goal of this event is to foster a sense of gratitude and share with others, to promote tolerance and love between religious communities, and to invite children from orphanages to share the joy of celebrating Christmas and the New Year,” said Edison.

The event began with a service led by Pastor Jeffry Saisab, S.Th. As a token of gratitude during the Christmas celebration, PLN, Jamkrindo, and PNM provided assistance to 500 children from 14 orphanages across North Sulawesi, as well as a donation to improve the facilities of the orphanages totaling Rp. 500,000,000. The assistance and gifts to the children consisted of Rp. 250,000 in cash and Rp. 100,000 in gift packages.

The 14 orphanages that received assistance included Panti Asuhan Melania, Nazareth, Walene Oki, Panti Asuhan Sayap Kasih, Dorkas, Tunarungu Damai, Panti Asuhan Amazia, Lukas, Bakti Mulia, Bukit Harapan, Bartemeus, Tuna Grahita, Mefi Boset, and Panti Asuhan Febe.

The manager of Panti Asuhan Bakti Mulia, Elen, expressed gratitude for the donations and gifts for the children in the orphanage ahead of Christmas 2018. “Thank you to BUMN. May this Christmas blessing bring joy to the children of the orphanage as they welcome Christmas,” said Elen. (HUMAS)
