The spirit of entrepreneurship needs to be continuously nurtured in society so that new business players can emerge to drive the national economy. Perum Jamkrindo is committed to supporting efforts to foster this entrepreneurial spirit.

In recent years, Perum Jamkrindo has contributed to cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit through various activities. One of the latest is the guest lecture held at Universitas Negeri Jakarta with the theme "Entrepreneurship, Knowledge Management, and Challenges in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution" on Friday, April 26, 2019.

The guest lecture was delivered by Sulis Usdoko, Director of Human Resources, General Affairs, and Compliance at Perum Jamkrindo. The guest lecture, given by the Board of Directors of Perum Jamkrindo, was also part of the Jamkrindo Peduli Pendidikan program, a series of activities leading up to the 49th anniversary of Perum Jamkrindo.

In addition to the company's core business being linked to micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM), its commitment to developing UMKM and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit is also driven by the high employment absorption from this sector, while the contribution of UMKM to the economy remains relatively small.

Perum Jamkrindo's President Director, Randi Anto, explained that the development of UMKM and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit aligns with efforts to enhance the company's role in the economy.

"This is a real contribution from the company to be present in the community, working together with the community to improve its contribution to the nation," said Randi Anto on Friday.

In addition to guest lectures, activities conducted include UMKM ranking and management consultations, partnership and community development programs, and other activities carried out through collaborations with many parties.

According to Sulis, to foster an entrepreneurial spirit, there are several factors involved, including knowledge management, leadership, and changes in the business environment.

"Entrepreneurship must continue to be encouraged because entrepreneurship needs to be able to address problems with solutions coming from new ideas. There is an opportunity, then offering solutions with new ideas to solve the problem," said Sulis.

The ability to adapt to a changing environment is, according to Sulis, very important, including changes in the business environment due to the 4.0 industrial revolution.

"Changes in the business environment will continue to happen. In the future, environmental changes should be considered as something normal, but what is most important is the response and adaptation to those changes in the business environment," Sulis explained.

The Vice Rector III of Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Achmad Sofyan Hanif, said that his institution also encourages students to open up opportunities to become entrepreneurs. "Currently, there are 10 start-ups. By 2019, we target 50 start-ups," said Sofyan.

According to Sofyan, the Certified Internship Program at Perum Jamkrindo is a great breakthrough because it not only prepares students for the workforce but also provides certification for the interns.
