LAMPUNG – As part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), Perum Jamkrindo has provided educational support by establishing school reading gardens in regions affected by the Sunda Strait tsunami. Through its Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL), the state-owned credit guarantee company has built reading gardens at SDN 01 Teluk, Labuan, Banten, and SDN 01 Waymuli, South Lampung.
The inauguration of the reading gardens was attended by Perum Jamkrindo’s Lampung Branch Manager, Widyaningrum, and Head of PKBL, Wildan Firdaus.
Perum Jamkrindo’s President Director, Randi Anto, highlighted that the Jamkrindo Peduli Pendidikan (Jamkrindo Cares for Education) movement, launched in 2016, aims to alleviate educational burdens for underprivileged students while fostering awareness among Perum Jamkrindo employees about education issues in Indonesia.
"Since 2016, Perum Jamkrindo has continuously established School and Community Reading Gardens, reaching a total of 45 locations across Indonesia through a collaboration between state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and Balai Pustaka," Randi explained.
In addition to building reading gardens, Perum Jamkrindo has received a MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) award for two consecutive years as the BUMN that has provided the most school supplies to students. This year, the company distributed 49,000 school supply packages simultaneously across Indonesia through its branch offices.
The initiative has been warmly welcomed by the local communities. Agus Subagyo, Principal of SDN 01 Waymuli, Lampung, expressed his appreciation for Perum Jamkrindo's support, emphasizing the program's positive impact on students' enthusiasm for learning.
"We sincerely thank Perum Jamkrindo. The students are excited and highly enthusiastic about the new reading garden," Agus stated.
This initiative reaffirms Perum Jamkrindo’s role as a socially responsible BUMN, actively contributing to education and community resilience, particularly in disaster-affected regions.
