Perum Jamkrindo Starts Community Empowerment in the Ciletuh Area

Perum Jamkrindo has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sukabumi District Government to improve the local economy through an anti-plastic waste campaign in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark. This series of activities, starting with raising awareness about the importance of managing plastic waste, aims to improve the economy in the Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu area, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

The agreement was signed at the Jamkrindo building in Jakarta on Thursday, November 28, 2019, by Perum Jamkrindo’s Director of HR, General Affairs, and Compliance, Sulis Usdoko, and Sukabumi Regent Marwan Hamami. The President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, Randi Anto, explained that this collaborative effort in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark area will take place over the next three years and supports Indonesia’s Plastic-Free 2025 campaign initiated by the government.

"We have carried out various community empowerment activities in many regions, even in areas far outside Java. As part of our participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we are starting this initiative in the Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu area," said Randi Anto during his speech at the signing ceremony.

Perum Jamkrindo selected the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark area for its community empowerment activities because of its great potential, but the area requires collaboration from multiple parties to develop it. The anti-plastic waste campaign was chosen as the starting theme due to the common issue faced by many tourist destinations, including Ciletuh, which is the lack of management of plastic waste. Plastic waste is a serious threat not only to tourist areas but to the planet as a whole.

After the agreement signing, various activities will take place in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark area. The activities planned by Perum Jamkrindo and the Sukabumi Regency Government will focus on empowerment, not just charity (philanthropic activities).

Through the anti-plastic waste movement, it is hoped that there will be mutual awareness, both among the local community in the Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu area and the tourists visiting the region. In the future, this movement will add value to the Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu area.

As a state-owned enterprise in the field of credit guarantee for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Perum Jamkrindo has the capacity to enhance the capabilities of MSMEs, including those in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark area.

"Perum Jamkrindo's main business is credit guarantee, but we also want to make a direct contribution to the community. Through the series of activities we have designed with the Sukabumi Regency Government, we hope the local economy will improve," said Randi.

The activities to be carried out together by Perum Jamkrindo, the Sukabumi Regency Government, and various parties will include tree planting at Palangpang Beach, providing waste bins, empowering MSMEs, offering partnership loans, and organizing an anti-plastic waste jamboree. In addition to these activities, other constructive initiatives will emerge through discussions with local communities in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu area over the next three years. However, it is also possible that the activities will continue if necessary.

Sukabumi Regent Marwan Hamami explained that the agreement with Perum Jamkrindo is a strategic step to advance the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark area. "We thank Perum Jamkrindo for participating in the development of the Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu area. We hope this collaboration will bring positive results for the community," said Marwan.

In terms of business performance, Perum Jamkrindo continues to report an increase in guarantee volume. As of October 2019, the volume of credit guarantees reached IDR 177.99 trillion, a 19.19% increase compared to October 2018, which was IDR 148.5 trillion. This guarantee volume consists of non-KUR guarantees amounting to IDR 125 trillion (70% of the guarantee composition) and KUR guarantees totaling IDR 52.88 trillion (30% of the guarantee composition). The guarantee volume realized by October 2019 has reached 97.6% of the 2019 Work Plan and Budget target.
