The Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) of Perum Jamkrindo, in collaboration with the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas), launched the "Mustahik Entrepreneurial Economy" program by providing assistance in the form of Healthy Snack Carts, Working Capital, and Support for SMEs in the Jabodetabek area.
Perum Jamkrindo's Business Director, Amin Mas'udi, stated that the Mustahik Entrepreneur program, a collaboration between Baznas and UPZ Perum Jamkrindo, will initially provide assistance to 20 recipients in the form of Healthy Snack Carts, Working Capital, and Guidance.
"In the next phase, in 2020, this Mustahik Entrepreneur program will be expanded by UPZ Perum Jamkrindo in cooperation with Baznas in the Jabodetabek area," said Amin at the program's launch in Jakarta.
The event was also attended by the Division Head of Baznas Utilization, Randi Suwandaru, Head of LPEM (Mustahik Economic Empowerment Services) Baznas Ajat Sudrajat, Head of the Economic Division of Baznas Eka Budi Sulistyo, Manager of LPEM Baznas Deden, Baznas UPZ Staff Kahfi, and UPZ Perum Jamkrindo management and staff.
Amin further explained that in 2020, UPZ Perum Jamkrindo is also planning to collaborate with Baznas to develop a grocery store business under the Z-Mart program in the West Java province.
"As a state-owned enterprise in the guarantee sector, Jamkrindo hopes that the micro-businesses benefiting from UPZ Perum Jamkrindo and Baznas will continue to grow and eventually gain access to the PKBL/CSR assistance from Perum Jamkrindo or other BUMNs," said Amin, who also serves as an advisor to UPZ Perum Jamkrindo.
Furthermore, the recipients of the program will receive guidance to help them "level up" and develop sustainably. The goal is for them to be able to access financing through the People's Business Credit (KUR) program with Jamkrindo's guarantee services. This capacity-building aligns with Baznas' aim of encouraging Mustahiks to become Muzakis who will then fulfill their Zakat obligations through Baznas.
The UPZ Perum Jamkrindo was established in 2018 as a Zakat Collection Unit. In 2019, UPZ Jamkrindo expanded its role from merely collecting zakat to also distributing zakat. In 2019, UPZ Perum Jamkrindo successfully collected ZIS funds totaling Rp 1.65 billion from 954 Muzakis, consisting of the Board of Directors and permanent employees of Perum Jamkrindo. The ZIS funds collected by UPZ Perum Jamkrindo were distributed to recipients in various sectors including economics, education, health, places of worship, humanitarian efforts, and more.
