PT Jamkrindo is committed to implementing an Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) through the application of ISO 37001:2016 certification on the Anti-Bribery Management System to prevent and combat corruption within the workplace.
In a closing meeting for the ISO 37001:2016 Certification at Jamkrindo’s headquarters on Friday, July 17, 2020, the Director of Human Resources, General Affairs, and Compliance, Sulis Usdoko, stated that this implementation aims to support good corporate governance (GCG) in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, this initiative is also a manifestation of the company's active role in preventing corruption and collusion (KKN) practices.
"ISO 37001:2016 serves as a standard for conducting various activities to control and anticipate bribery practices within the company, helps with internal control systems, and strengthens company security through effective implementation of anti-bribery policies," he explained.
This commitment follows recommendations from the Audit of the Certification Body (SAI Global). Given the complexity of business processes, diverse business partners, and the broad scope of operations, it is essential to apply SMAP intensively and regularly across all employees to maintain the company's compliance with GCG principles.
Sulis Usdoko further explained that the company plans to extend the scope of the ISO 37001:2016 SMAP certification to all work units across PT Jamkrindo's branches in Indonesia. "As an initial step, a pilot project for SMAP has been implemented in the Corporate Secretary unit, General Affairs Division, and Finance & Investment Division," he said.
ISO 37001, issued on October 15, 2016, aims to assure organizations that the anti-bribery systems they apply include adequate procedures to address bribery and corruption risks. This internationally recognized anti-bribery system certification standard was adopted and translated by the National Standardization Agency (BSN) into the SNI ISO 37001:2016 with a Decree of Determination dated December 6, 2016.
ISO 37001 consists of 10 clauses based on the Annex SL management system standard document. This document is aligned with other ISO standards, such as ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems and ISO 27001:2013 for Information Security Management Systems, making integration with these standards easier.
ISO 37001 defines "bribery" as the act of offering, promising, giving, receiving, or soliciting an improper advantage of any value (whether financial or non-financial), directly or indirectly, regardless of location, as a violation of laws or regulations, as an inducement or reward for someone to act or refrain from acting in relation to the performance of their duties. Compliance with this standard does not guarantee that bribery will not occur, but it helps organizations design reasonable and proportional measures to prevent, detect, and respond to bribery.
