Jamkrindo Expands Community Empowerment Program in Sukabumi

PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) continues to expand its community empowerment programs in Sukabumi, West Java, following the successful initiatives in Ciletuh Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark. The company is now focusing on Cikidang, an area with significant economic potential, by introducing sustainable economic development projects.

The latest initiative in Cikidang began with a hydroponic horticulture training program for local women’s groups (PKK). This initiative aims to provide alternative economic opportunities in response to the economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jamkrindo President Director, Putrama W. Setyawan, emphasized the company's commitment to actively supporting economic recovery in affected communities.

"Hydroponic farming training provides added value to the community during the pandemic when economic activity has slowed due to social restrictions," said Putrama in a press release on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

This follows a similar hydroponic farming training initiative conducted for the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark (CPUGGp) Homestay Association. The program was designed to enhance agribusiness skills while adding value to the homestay experience. The 100 homestays in Geopark Ciletuh regularly receive visitors, making this program an economic and educational opportunity for the community.

Jamkrindo has been actively involved in community development programs in Geopark Ciletuh since 2019, as part of its social responsibility and empowerment initiatives. Similar programs have also been successfully implemented in: Larantuka, East Nusa Tenggara, Garut, West Java, Kintamani, Bali.

These initiatives aim to foster optimism and resilience among local communities amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Besides hydroponic farming training, our team is also mapping local potential in Cikidang. Moving forward, we will support the community in adding value to these local commodities—just as we did in Geopark Ciletuh," Putrama added.

In Geopark Ciletuh, Jamkrindo helped local MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) develop mango chips as a signature local product. The region produces an abundance of mangoes, but prices typically plummet during the harvest season. By processing mangoes into chips, the community can increase product value and marketability, creating a stable source of income.

Beyond economic empowerment, Jamkrindo has also provided support for community infrastructure in Cikidang. The company has contributed to: Renovating places of worship, Improving local schools

These efforts aim to enhance community well-being and provide a more conducive environment for daily activities.

As Indonesia’s largest credit guarantee company, Jamkrindo is a member of the Indonesia Financial Group (IFG) holding, under PT Bahana Pembinaan Usaha Indonesia (Persero). Through these initiatives, Jamkrindo demonstrates its commitment to empowering local communities, fostering sustainable economic development, and supporting national financial inclusion efforts.
